On Sunday 26th November, ORs and their families came to Radley for a special evening of music in Chapel. ORs who had been part of the College choir during their time at school, or who have a particular interest in choral music, joined the current College choir and an orchestra in Chapel for a liturgical performance of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in D minor.

After arriving at the College, a brief walk around and some refreshments, the singers were able to gather together with Precentor, Sam Gladstone, for two practice sessions to warm up their voices, and refamiliarize them with the music and the acoustics of Chapel, ahead of the service.

At 7pm, the full school service began, led by Senior Chaplain, Bob Evans. The combined musical power of the school choir, choral society, ORs, boys, and musicians was very impressive and moving. It was a delight to hear and to witness.

Following the service, the visitors enjoyed a curry in the recently refurbished Shop, providing an opportunity to discuss the music and reminisce about their time at the College.

A recording of the service is available to watch on YouTube and photos from the evening are available to view on Flickr.

We all enjoyed this special opportunity to be back at the heart of Radley.
